This is a collection of map chip assets that "scratches where it itches" for "Japanese-style horror" and "modern Japanese houses," which are rarely available. It includes numerous pixel art assets from the remake version of "The Forest of Drizzling Rain," featuring Showa-retro buildings, furniture, Japanese-style horror items, and convenient "tree" assets that can create a dense forest just by layering.

◆Contents of the three products

The assets are divided into the following three categories. Please use them for your game development.

<(1) Japanese-style Horror & Forest>

Includes items for old Japanese houses and plants that you'd want to use in Japanese-style horror works.

The "tree" assets, which can create a dense forest just by layering, are particularly easy to use.

<(2) Retro Village Exteriors>

Prepared with exteriors of old buildings such as tin-roofed sheds, allowing you to recreate a modern Japanese countryside village that seems to be a marginal village.

<(3) Western-style House & Modern Japanese Interiors>

A truly "scratches where it itches" map chip set with items commonly found in modern Japanese houses (※specifically, we're assuming Japanese houses that would have been newly built around the mid-1990s), such as radio cassette players, tissue boxes, system kitchens, and home appliances.

Western-style house assets are also included.

◆About these assets

These assets are the map materials that appeared in the remake version of "The Forest of Drizzling Rain" (※) released in November 2022. They were originally created from scratch for this work, and modifications are allowed. Please check the terms of use for details on usage.

・Japanese-style Horror & Forest

・Retro Village Exteriors

・Western-style House & Modern Japanese Interiors

Each is arranged on a single sheet as transparent PNG. They are based on 32x32 pixel squares.

Please refer to the sample images for the included content.

While these are pixel assets used in RPG Maker MZ, they are not tilesets. The assets are transparent PNGs, so when using them as tilesets, please feel free to cut out and layer them as you like. They can be used not only in RPG Maker but also in other game development software.

For editing, we recommend illustration editing software that can use layers and transparency functions.

(※) What is "The Forest of Drizzling Rain"?

It's a multi-ending horror game by MAKOTO SANADA (Stardust KRNKRN), who created the psycho-horror ADV "Angels of Death."

It's a work depicting a horror experience in a rural Japanese village in the 1990s. It was first released on "Freem!" in October 2013, and a remake version was released on Steam in November 2022. With the remake, the graphics and maps were completely renewed, and the pixel art assets sold on this page appear.
